Central Library is a public library in Blackpool. The building that contains the library and the Grundy Art Gallery has been designated a Grade II listed building by English Heritage.
The library is a truly iconic building that is significant not just in Blackpool's history but nationally as one of the small collection of original (Andrew) Carnegie buildings that set a benchmark for all libraries and brought learning to the masses.
In August 2010 the library closed to undergo a major refurbishment to celebrate its centenary year in 2011.
The project will create a new extension to house new community and technology areas and a cafe.
Technical and Electrical Services are in the process of electrical re-wire in partnership with Blackpool Council, Bisset Adams Architects and Carefoot Construction aimed at creating a modern vibrant library and exhibition centre.
Project comprises of :
• Small Power,
• Lighting including emergency lighting and external accent lighting,
• Fire Alarm,
• Data / Voice Communications,
•Photo Voltiac renewable energy supply.
